Stephen Smith RPIA (Fellow)

Stephen has extensive leadership, management and Board experience. This experience includes highly developed skills in strategy, policy, financial management, resource allocation and leadership, which have been enhanced through completing a Masters in Business Administration.

Stephen has excellent communication skills including experience in a range of written materials and strong verbal skills from one on one to meetings and public speaking. Strong strategic thinking skills have been enhanced through working with the Local Government Association and Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, Natural Resources Management Boards and Catchment Water Management. 

Stephen has been actively involved with the Planning Institute of Australia across his career becoming a registered Planner in 2016. He has also served on the Division Committee and became a Fellow in 2013.  He was recognised as South Australian Planner of the year in 2017, and has been the South Australian Director since 2021.  In 2025 Stephen was appointed as the Chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee and a PIA Vice-President.
