PIA is managed by a team of staff in a range of locations across the country. Our team work collaboratively to deliver member services and to run PIA efficiently and effectively.

Chief Executive Officer
Kirsty Kelly, RPIA

Kirsty leads Australia's peak professional planning body and is responsible for leading effective planning for people and places. Appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Company Secretary of the Planning Institute of Australia in February 2011, Kirsty is an experienced Certified Practising Planner. She is a strong advocate for the role planning plays in creating sustainable, healthy and productive communities of lasting value. More about Kirsty...

David Williams

Chief Operating Officer & Executive Officer (ACT)
David Williams

David manages the PIA corporate services team nationally and support the CEO in governance and servicing the Board. David and his team are also responsible for servicing the members of the ACT Division.

Michelle Reipsamen

Executive Officer (New South Wales and Education)
Michelle Riepsamen

Michelle manages the delivery of services to members throughout New South Wales as well as assisting PIA’s National Education Committee with ensuring members have access to high quality planning education. This includes running the accreditation process PIA provides for planning education courses.

Executive Officer (Queensland and Northern Territory)
Richard Moore

Richard manages the delivery of services and representation for PIA in Queensland and Northern Territory. He has a strong focus to continue the great work of PIA in these regions. Richard has over 25 years experience at a senior level in general management both here and overseas, and is a graduate of the AICD Company Directors Course.

Executive Officer (Victoria & Tasmania)
Carmel McCormack

Carmel is the Executive Officer for Victoria and Tasmania. Carmel’s role is both externally and internally focused, and includes member services and programs, publications, policy, advocacy, professional development, communications, marketing, sponsorship, finance, administration and business development. Delivery of these activities is through collaboration and coordination with Committees, contractors, members and industry stakeholders. Carmel previously worked as a General Manager at the Australian Institute of Architects and at AILA.

Executive Officer (Western Australia & South Australia)
Emma de Jager, RPIA

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Western Australian and South Australian divisions. Emma is a Registered Planner and has worked for government and as a consultant planner.

Karen manages sponsorship opportunities for National Congress and looks forward to discussing national partnership agreements with you.

Online Services Manager
Jemima Fowler

Jemima manages the membership team and is also responsible for the website & online system. Jemima has been with PIA since 2008.

Lauren is responsible for developing, implementation and maintenance of marketing strategies to meet the Institute's membership objectives.

Board Secretariat and Executive Assistant
Brenda Payne

​Brenda is the Executive Assistant to the CEO, and provides secretarial support to the Board and Committees.
