Effective urban planning relies on actionable insights drawn from diverse and complex datasets. This course will introduce participants to data and design concepts, with hands-on exercises to allow them to build intuitive, data-driven dashboards.
The workshop begins with foundational principles of dashboard design, focusing on clarity, hierarchy, usability, and storytelling through data visualisation. Participants will explore best practices for selecting visualisations, prioritising information, and aligning design choices with their respective goals. A hands-on session will guide attendees through building dashboards using PowerBI, integrating a selection of sample datasets, and ensuring adaptability for various stakeholders.
By the end of the course, urban planners will have the skills to design and develop dashboards that enhance decision-making, streamline communication, and foster collaboration. This practical and engaging session bridges the gap between data complexity and actionable solutions, equipping planners to confidently tackle modern challenges.
