Big data/small data.. is there a difference and why will it matter to planners? This session introduces the concept of PlanTech, and practice of using place data for evidence-based planning and reporting. We will discuss the PIAs PlanTech Principles and a range of tools available to planners from low tech to high tech: from the ABS, to community sentiment, social media, spend, phone and more. We will discuss case studies of data being used in both strategic planning and place-based projects and consider the full spectrum of uses for place data - from decision making to capturing return on investment.
