PLANET NSW | Understanding upgrades & decoding codes

The session will address NSW legislative triggers, including Fire Safety Orders, Development Consent Conditions (Section 62 & Section 64), Disability (Access to Premises) Standard 2010, Significant Fire Safety Issues, Category 1 Fire Safety Provisions, and Complying Development upgrade requirements.

The second half of the session will cover the provisions of Part 5 and Part 5A of State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008. The aim of this session is to provide Town Planners with an understanding of the developments to which the Part 5 & 5A of the Codes SEPP applies  and the information requried to determine if a development may be considered ‘Complying Development’.

Presenter

Adam Mainey MPIA, Director Mainey PTY LTD Adam is the Director of Mainey Pty Ltd. Adam holds over 14 years’ experience in the Building Regulations Industry, with experience as a Certifier, BCA Consultant and Town Planner operating in Private Practice. He has been involved in projects across a wide variety of sectors in the Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Education and Government sectors.  Adam specialises in advice on Complying Development Certificates for Certifiers within the industry and BCA Assessment Reports. Adam has been involved in a number of Land and Environment Cases as an Expert Witness in the assessment of Complying Development Certificates/ Building Compliance/ and BCA/Fire Safety matters.  Adam aims to provide Certifiers with the necessary information to protect themselves against legal claims with the increasing liability and increasing scope of being a Certifier in the process of providing efficient building outcomes in NSW.
