The PIA WA Introduction to Planning course has been created for those working in a planning environment and seeking a deeper understanding of the Western Australian Planning System.  

Introduction to Planning will cover the planning essentials and furnish you with valuable, long-term credentials so you can interact with the planning system or be a highly effective planning support professional.

The course will provide a broad overview of the history and purposes of urban and regional planning.

You will examine the fundamentals of planning practice, including the legal framework and the local and state government planning approval processes.  Another course feature will be practical examples and strategic and statutory planning case studies.

• State and local government staff who are from other professional disciplines or form part of the planning team without any formal planning training.
