PLANET | Facilitation Skills for Planners

As planners and policy makers, working in inter-disciplinary teams, engaging with multiple stakeholders and consulting with community members have all become part of our role. The skills to work effectively with a group, support collaboration and bring different parties to a decision are not something we learn through our technical training. Very often planners are thrown in the 'deep end' to sink or swim!
In this course we will identify and apply strategies and techniques to better plan and design our meetings and workshops and the key skills you can use in the room to support participation.  Group facilitation is something that we learn by doing and observing, this is a highly interactive session, in which we will work together to apply facilitation skills and building confidence to step into the room and support more effective dialogue and engagement.

Designed For

Planners, designers and policy makers who want to work more effectively in group situations.

Learning Outcomes

  • Strategies to plan and design meetings and workshops to be more productive.
