Learn when and how State bushfire policy at clause 13.02-1S influences statutory planning decisions. Learn about the Bushfire Management Overlay and how to prepare and assess a bushfire management statement that addresses Clause 44.06 and 53.02. Learn about the vegetation removal exemptions that apply in the Bushfire Management Overlay and designated Bushfire Prone Areas.

The course is interactive and you will learn the basics of fire behaviour, to enable you to make more informed planning decisions. You will work through case studies to learn how to apply the bushfire policy and controls when making statutory planning decisions.

Local government statutory planners, referral authorities and planning consultants who would like to better understand the role of the planning scheme in managing bushfire risk.

Andrew Ganey MPIA
Andrew is the principal consultant at Planning For Fire and has worked in the bushfire, planning and fire prevention sectors for well over a decade. This includes firefighting experience, work for local government, and for industry bodies, and at both the Country Fire Authority (CFA) & Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV).
