2011 Awards for Excellence
The Awards for Excellence Program recognises innovation, leadership and excellence in the planning profession and stimulates the public awareness of excellent projects and emphasises the importance of good planning in the community.
Western Australia is regularly acknowledged as a leader in contemporary urban and regional planning in the Australian context and the Awards Program provides an opportunity for individuals, groups and organisations to be recognised for this outstanding contribution to at both the State and National level.
The intent and scope of the Awards extends on planning, development, places and people and in 2011 the Awards program will focus on projects that showcase innovation, advancement and excellence in “Creating Liveable Communities”, a core principle of urban and regional planning.
2011 welcomes a new suite of Award Categories that have been designed to respond to contemporary planning research and practice across all sectors of the industry and provide significant new opportunities to collaborate with a greater range of participants including Government, education institutions, private practice, the community and the wider development industry to celebrate outstanding achievements in planning excellence.

• Greg Grabasch –National Executive for the Australian Institute of Architects and Director of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture firm, UDLA
• Shelley Shepherd – Lead Consultant on state policy documents informing the Integration of Natural Resource Management and Land Use Planning, and Better Urban Water Management, Director of Essential Environmental
• Jeff Thierfelder – Member of the City of Perth’s Design Advisory Committee and the UDIA Built Form Committee Member and Design Manager at Estates Development Company.
• Warren Giddens - Immediate past Awards for Excellence convenor, town planner and Director of ConsultWG, a practice specialising in community engagement
