Welcome to the Tasmanian Divisional website.
The Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) promotes excellence in planning
and is the national professional organisation representing qualified planners
in Australia. It was founded in 1951 as the Royal Australian Planning Institute
(RAPI) and now has more than 3500 members in Divisions in every state and
territory in Australia, in addition to overseas members.
The institute's goals are to:
- promote planning, both as a process and as a professional discipline
- provide support for all planners
- elevate the status and influence of the profession and the Institute with all levels of government, related disciplines and other peak agencies/organisations
- maintain membership entry requirements and maintain professional standards by providing a program of continuing professional development
- develop and maintain relations with related disciplines and international planning organisations
- effectively manage the institute's affairs
Tasmanian Planner
The Tasmanian Division releases a quarterly newsletter – Tasmanian Planner
– which is distributed to members, Local Councils and related industry
stakeholder groups. E-versions of this newsletter can be downloaded
here. Submissions and letters for future editions are welcomed from all
planners and non-planners, while advertising space is also available. For
a copy of the submission date/advertising schedule, or to send a contribution,
please contact the Division Manager at tas@planning.org.au

New Division Manager
As of the 15 September 2008, the Tasmanian Division has a new office manager based in our National Office.
