PIA Response to Discussion Paper on the Review of the Local Development Contribution System 17 10 2011

PIA Victoria is participating in a Stakeholder Reference Group on the current review of the local development contribution system. The purpose of the review is to develop a new Victorian system that will be simple to use and underpinned by fairness and certainty for both councils and developers.

The Department of Planning and Community Development wrote a discussion paper as part of the review on which the Stakeholder Reference Group were invited to comment. PIA’s response can be accessed here.

Victorian Planning System Ministerial Advisory Committee

The Minister for Planning recently established an Advisory Committee to review the planning system in Victoria. The Advisory Committee invited comment from the community and industry to consider all parts of the planning system. PIA Victorian Division made preliminary presentation to the Committee, followed by a full written submission.

Parliamentary Inquiry into Environmental Design and Public Health July 2011

PIA Victoria ran an industry information session and guided workshop around this inquiry, made a presentation to the Health Minister and a submitted a detailed individual submission from PIA Vic.

PIA Victoria also contributed to a joint submission into to the Environment and Planning Committee’s current Inquiry into Environmental Design and Public Health in Victoria. The other contributing organisations or individuals are:

Modernising Victoria's Planning Act

PIA Victoria co-ordinated a response, on behalf of members, to these papers. In order to ensure that the contribution was representative of the views and opinions of PIA members, the Institute constructed a short questionnaire in which members were invited to participate. VCAT President's Review

In late 2008 the Attorney-General, the Hon. Rob Hulls MP, requested that the president of VCAT, Justice Kevin Bell, conduct an extensive review of the performance of VCAT over its first ten years of operation, with particular regard to access, operational and jurisdictional issues.

In response to this review, PIA (Vic) is now preparing a detailed MEMBERS QUESTIONNAIRE REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS report based on the Institute's members views and opinions as regular VCAT users. The report will be the end product of an online questionnaire distributed to PIA members and interested professionals.
