Sustainable Regional and Urban Communities Adapting to Climate Change
PIA (Qld) has developed a comprehensive four stage project with the aim of developing planning tools which can prepare communities and industries for the likely impacts associated with climate change.

The first stage established the need for the project, secured our project partners and was completed in May 2003. From this preliminary research is clear that
- The planning profession currently does not have the tools available to address climate change
- Climate is of interest and concern to planners
- Forecasts are seen as too uncertain and lack political and community support
- There is an expectation nationally and internationally that planning will do 'something'.
This project is ground breaking work both nationally and internationally.
The following reports are available:
- Initial Scoping Study
- Preliminary Literature Review
- Presentation to Academy of Science - December 18 & 19 2002 by Sharon Boyle, Policy & CPD Coordinator PIA, Qld
