Annual Requirements
Each member that joins the Planning Institute agrees to meet and maintain certain professional standards, in order to retain membership of PIA and to enjoy the benefits of being part of a professional association. Setting and maintaining these standards is an important aspect of the Institute’s operation.
Members, Fellows & Life Fellows
To remain in PIA, Members must:
- Meet membership requirements of at least one Chapter;
- Retain financial membership (not fall into arrears in the payment of fees);
- Practice in accordance with the Code of Conduct; and
- Participate in Professional Development activity each year to maintain knowledge and skills.
Students
To remain eligible for subsidised PIA membership fees, Students must:
- Remain enrolled in an appropriate planning-related course of study; and
- Retain financial membership (not fall into arrears in the payment of fees).
Individuals who fail to advise PIA that they are no longer studying are in breach of the By-Laws.
Graduates
To remain in PIA, Graduates must:
- Retain financial membership (not fall into arrears in the payment of fees); and
- Practice in accordance with the Code of Conduct.
Graduates are not required to record or report on Professional Development activity; however participation is encouraged.
Associates
Associates must retain financial membership and not fall into arrears in the payment of fees.
