Urban Design Photo Competition & Exhibition

REGISTRATION FORM

The Planning Institute of Australia Urban Design Chapter invites you to attend the Urban Design Photo Exhibition and networking function on Tuesday 12 October, 5.30 – 8pm at Loop Bar, 23 Myers Place, Melbourne. During the evening the photo competition entries will be projected around the bar, winners will be announced and gourmet catering will be provided. Exhibition RSVP is Friday 8 October to mbrown@planning.org.au, this is a FREE event and catering is included.

Competition entries are to be digital images of places anywhere in Victoria that are examples of excellence in urban design. It might be a busy street or a city square, a hidden laneway or a grand forecourt to a building, a seat on a street corner or a small suburban park. Any urban space that you believe is great, and contributes something extraordinary to our life in our cities or towns.

Photo entries close Thursday 7 October 2010, entry is FREE. Please send photo, name, organisation, contact details and abstract of 100 words or less, telling us why you think that place is special and a great example of urban design to mbrown@planning.org.au by Thursday 7 October 2010. Competition categories:

  • A great people place
  • Design quality and innovation
  • Excellence in sustainability
  • Creating the ‘new suburbanism’ (increasing density in the suburban environment)
  • Reactivation, regeneration or recycling
  • The great unplanned or spontaneous urban space

Competition prizes will be awarded. Entries will also be displayed on the PIA facebook page and in Planning News.
