Canberra Location
We have an opportunity for a Principal Planner with 10+ years’ experience to join the ACT and Southern NSW Operating Centre. This is a position working primarily on projects with a focus on integrating planning and environmental work streams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identify, position and secure project opportunities for GHD;
- Strategic leadership for integrated approvals processes for major developments;
- Develop and maintain key clients relationships;
- Develop innovation and leading approaches to addressing approvals processes;
- Coach and mentor staff and assist in developing a centre of excellence; and
- Build and provide direction to multidiscipline project teams.
Essential Minimal Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or similar;
- 10+ years' experience in statutory, strategic or environmental planning;
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in either ACT/ NSW Planning and environmental legislation;
- ACT Government experience; and
- Private sector consulting.
You will be self-motivated, flexible in your approach to challenges and possess a proven ability to develop excellent relationships with internal and external clients. You will also have the ability to provide high quality work and develop new business.
A thorough understanding of best practice, planning and environmental policy and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary assessment studies and approvals is essential. You will also possess excellent communication skills, experience in preparing reports and the ability to consult effectively with stakeholders as required.
