CPP Courses
New for 2012
In house and non scheduled courses are available; if none of the dates or locations are suitable then talk to us about organising courses in your area. These can be conducted in house or though expression of interest campaigns.
Proposed CPP Residential Sessions for 2012
PIA and Chifley are currently in discussions regarding the residential sessions for 2012. The sessions could be a composition of four CPP units over five days, or two CPP units over three days. This will allow participants the opportunity to complete a large amount of study in a condensed time period and from previous years events, this has been a successful way of gaining accreditation. Further information on dates and locations will be available early March.
If you have any further enquiries contact CPP Manager a call on 02 6262 5933 or email cpp@planning.org.au. We are also happy to tie units in with conferences and other events; in short, our aim is to make attendance at CPP courses as easy and convenient as possible.
Certified Practising Planner Course 2012
The annual schedule for the course is prepared in conjunction with the PIA and Chifley Business School (CBS) with the focus being to provide access to course units across the country for the full year.
Our regular online courses are designed to meet the needs of planners with busy and unpredictable schedules as well as those in regional and rural areas as well as overseas.
About the course
- Builds on the foundation of under and post graduate planning qualifications.
- Complements skills and knowledge gained through practice, and
- Provides information about leading edge developments.
Our facilitators have solid experience in their fields and bring a wealth of knowledge to the course. Each facilitator holds professional qualifications and has extensive experience relevant to his or her topic. Our facilitators continuously engage in personal professional development ensuring the course is providing up to date information and best practice.
Members of PIA can earn up to 30 Professional Development (PD) points per unit.
How are the units presented?
Units are available in two modes of delivery:
- Face to face over two full days; or
- Online over a two week block.
In both modes of delivery, the content and structure of each unit is the same. You are given a resource book, which includes study materials and activities that cover the course content. You are guided through the material by the facilitator and are offered regular opportunities to discuss your experiences and issues from your practice. The value of the course is enriched by interaction between participants from a range of backgrounds, practice areas and experiences.
In face to face delivery mode, topics may be covered in summary by the facilitator to maximise time available during the sessions for discussion and activity. The online mode is delivered over a two week period and uses ‘threaded’ discussions to allow people to contribute as they reach (and reflect on) each topic. The use of the threaded format provides flexibility to ensure that participants can contribute at any time; including from international time zones.
Each session has a limited number of spaces (minimum ten, maximum twenty five) which ensures a high quality learning experience. Each session has a booking deadline three weeks prior to its scheduled commencement. Information about session venues and facilitators is available in advance of each session by contacting info@chifley.edu.au or calling 1300 244 353
Unit assessment
Satisfactory completion of a course unit requires a candidate to demonstrate that he or she has achieved the set learning outcomes. Each unit includes two pieces of assessment to determine whether participants have achieved the required outcomes.
- A short answer test is given during the session.
- An 800 - 1500 word paper is required to be submitted no later than six weeks after the course date.
Both elements of the assessment must be passed in order to satisfactorily complete the unit. (At least four units must be passed to achieve CPP accreditation).
