Achieving CPP Accreditation

To receive and maintain CPP accreditation, a PIA member must complete a minimum of 4 assessed CPP courses (or equivalencies) and must undertake a mandatory amount of Professional Development (PD) activity annually. The nationally consistent CPP courses, whilst delivered through several methods, are primarily two day face to face sessions or delivered online over two weeks, both methods have an assessment component.

The course is an initiative of PIA which aims to provide nationally consistent, professional development opportunities, appropriately targeted to planning practitioners. Chifley Business School (CBS) is responsible for the administration and delivery of the course, including managing registrations and supporting participants and facilitators.

The course has been designed for practicing planners and professionals in associated disciplines with an interest in the practice of planning. Whilst there are no formal prerequisites for enrolment, a minimum of two years’ prior work experience in a planning related field is strongly recommended. However, we do encourage new graduates and Young Planners to sit the courses.

You can choose to undertake a single course unit in an area of particular interest, but CPP accreditation does require you to complete and pass a minimum of four units. Please note, that if you are not eligible for corporate membership of PIA you cannot earn CPP accreditation. However, any CPP units you have completed will be recognised when you do gain full PIA membership.
