Young Planners

Young Planners is an energetic committee of the Planning Institute of Australia. Young Planners was established as the forum to express fresh ideas and directions on planning for the benefit of the planning profession and the community.

By being a member of Young Planners, you receive the following benefits:

  • Education/Professional Development – members are regularly notified of opportunities to attend seminars, forums and discussions organised by the Institute on critical planning issues or topical planning projects.
  • Socialising – the Institute provides ample opportunities for planners to mingle with others from the profession in a relaxed and fun atmosphere over the course of the year.
  • A Voice – opportunities to participate in an organisation that actively seeks to have issues relevant to the profession raised in the public domain.
  • Networking Opportunities – the Institute provides an environment where it is easy to develop new contacts within the profession.

There are no specific registration requirements or fees to join Young Planners. If you are a current student, graduate or corporate member of PIA and are studying, or are within 5 years since your graduation, then you are automatically defined as a Young Planner.

If you are currently not a member, or not receiving emails regarding young planner events, contact the ACT Young Planner representative by emailing actyoungplanners@planning.org.au.

Young Planners organise regular social and educational events for students and young working planners.
